Subject:Acid 3.0 Pro Playback Is Only In 2 Speakers.

I have a soundblaster live card and I am using Windows XP pro(same issue in Windows 2000) and anytime I am playing a project in Acid, it only plays thru the FRONT 2 speakers. ANY other app will play thru all 4 speakers, even other Sonic Foundry apps.
When I record music from an external source via LINE IN on my sound card into Acid, the audio plays thru ALL 4 speakers, but on playback, just 2 speakers.
Is there a way to make it play thru all 4 speakers, or is this on purpose to avoid feedback or some other reason. HELP!!!
Thanks.

Typically greater than stereo output is handled by the hardware or Windows. (I am guessing Windows in this case.) The only way Windows can do this is through the Sound Mapper.

Did you configure Windows with a specific "speaker" setup? (This is done in control panel using the "Sounds and Multimedia" tool and then by selecting the "Advanced" button for the Sound Playback preferred device.

ACID is a Stereo output application. It feeds the audio hardware stereo data - all of our apps do this. (Sound Forge will also play back in mono.)

How do you have ACID routed to the hardware? You might want to have ACID use the Windows Sound Mapper vs routing directly to the hardware.

Which of our other apps produce output to all speakers? What "playback device" do you have selected in these apps?

This is probably a driver issue. I've seen complaints about the rear speakers not working on the Creative forum. Are you using the drivers provided by Microsoft? If so, download the most recent ones from soundblaster.com. If you are using the most recent creative drivers, try "rolling back" to those provided by XP in Device manager.

Well the issue was resolved by the new 2000/XP driver from the new Creative sight. To SonicPCH, Acid worked fine thru all 4 speakers until I updated to version E. Now it works again after I installed new Soundblaster drivers.
