Sqiq,

I'm not SonicJG, but I can help you in the meantime. In order to flash your BIOS, you need to first find out who manufactures your motherboard. If you don't know, you may be able to check yourself by opening the case and looking for a brand name on the board. You also may be able to call your computer's maker if you bought it from someone like Dell, Compaq, or IBM. You could even look up your machine's model number on the maker's website. However you do it, get the model number.

Next, go to the motherboard maker's website (like Abit, Asus, DFI, etc). Look on their site for driver updates or something similar. After rooting around for a while, you should be able to find BIOS updates somewhere. Download them and follow the instructions. "Flashing" simply involves you running a small, bootable program that will update your BIOS, a small chip on your motherboard that is used for all sorts of nifty little things. Here are some links to some more common manufacturers:

DFI:

Asus:
http://usa.asus.com/inside/downloadmap.htm

MSI:

Gigabyte:

Hope this helps,

Thanks Nick- That's pretty much what I would've said. Flashing the BIOS basically involves downloading the file(s) from your mobo manufacturer, putting them on a floppy, and carefully running the executable according to the instructions(including backing up your current BIOS)--full instructions for flashing your BIOS should be on the manufacturer's site.
