Subject:SF Pro 11 - FX Chains

Back in V9, there was just one FX chain window which was launchable from a button on the bottom left. Using it, you could add whatever FX you wanted, their GUIs came up automatically, and you could select any part of the file you wanted to treat or audition, and then hit apply to ... apply the FX... However now in SF11 we have 2 windows launchable from 2 different menus. One of which allows chains to be auditioned and created and saved, but not applied... The other one which has the apply button, does not allow selection of the audio file part to be auditioned or affected. In short, it is a backwards cludge which removes the speed and functionlity that we had before. Has anyone found a way to get around this design bodge? Thanks! |

On a single FX process (no chain) the desired part of the timeline should be highlighted prior to selecting the FX/process. Other than that no work-around. Most agree (except SCS), the prior GUI was more intuitive and faster. I guess SCS wants a SloTools like design.. multiple menu steps to get from point A to point B. I just came here to see if more people were complaining about this! I've already left a few messages and so far, no change. It's very frustrating. I've been using SF10 for the last 6 months because I NEED to apply volume changes to do music editing. I use that one feature probably 10-20 times per day!! The way it worked before was PERFECT! I can't understand who would ask for this change... if anyone, or why anyone would think it was the way to go. I can't find anything good about it. And it's extremely frustrating because there are a LOT of bugs in SF10 when using markers that they FINALLY fixed in 11. I really want to use it, but I cant. My biggest concern is that they will release 12 and the Apply button will be back again. It's a concern because I will have to pay for the program AGAIN. I paid for 11 and have gotten ZERO use out of it, now I'm going to have to pay again without knowing what else they've screwed up. |

"I can't understand who would ask for this change... if anyone, or why anyone would think it was the way to go. I can't find anything good about it." > I don't think anyone 'asked for it', The code monkeys probably just needed to justify their salary (or lack thereof), and/or to screw up an already good, intuitive and functional GUI / workflow. As a SF beta tester, I questioned this months prior to the release.. I was also dismayed by changing the record function. (dropping the remote function inparticular) |
