Vegas 13 dropping takes.

When recording audio, (usually just one or two tracks) the wave form will show during the recording but as soon as you hit stop it will disappear and there's nothing there. The weird thing is if you drag the take out of the explorer window onto the timeline elsewhere it just a sliver of a clip. But, if you look in the folder the take will be the right size as if it recorded. It will not play back in anything (Windows media player, quicktime, Nuendo Reaper) although I have gotten some of them to play in VLC. If I try to open them with Sound Forge I get "The File May Be Corrupt" error. Any ideas what could be causing this? SSD main drive. Recording to WD Black audio drive. Have been using Vegas for Audio since version 5 although we did skip 11 and 12. This does not happen in 10 on the same machine.

It's internal. SATA 6 Gb/s.
I should mention that I also use Nuendo on this machine for ADR sessions and some others with no issues.

OK, internal takes away any possible complications from USB or Firewire attachments. Are you set to record WAV or W64 files ?

Certainly something 'screwy'. Is it a single-drive system, or data on a separate drive ? If separate, what happens if you record to (and have Vegas temp files) on another drive ? Sounds like the actual written files are corrupt.

First suggestion would be a full Vegas de-install/re-install.

Also suggest set a new Temp Files folder (in Options|Preferences), unique for V13, and on your data drive.

Multiple drives. SSD (840 Pro) C drive. WD Black Audio drives. Does the same when I write to either of them. It's actually started doing it it Vegas Pro 10 now too.
Time for a complete rebuild I think.
