Hi to all forum mates,

My vocal starts a little before to the actual music track when recording with sony vegas 5.0.

How to get back that my vocals and music track runs at the same time or tempo.

Love and blessings to all forum mates.

You go back to Vegas and drag the vocal track, or a section of it, to line up with the music., then re-render.

You can't do anything to and 'already mixed' track, in SF or anything !

Sounds like a latency issue.

What audio hardware are you using?

Are you using ASIO drivers?

You mention Vegas, so I am not sure what you are doing...if you are recording in Vegas...

Make sure you have select the ASIO device in Vegas' audio preferences.

If not, you should for your hardware - or try ASIO for All. ASIO drivers allow for very low latency and more importantly, proper sync between input and output.

If ASIO is not an option, you can try lowering the buffer settings in audio preferences. You may still have to manually adjust the recorded track to align with the original recording.

Thank you SonyPCH,

I do not use any ASIO drivers at all. It was going all well but started happening few days back since I started recording through an alesis audio interface. Is this because of it.

What to do now??

Dear Geoff,

You go back to Vegas and drag the vocal track, or a section of it, to line up with the music., then re-render.

You above answers sounds good to me and can resolve my problem if answered the following:-

Dragging the vocal track and lining it up with the music track seems to be be little difficult may be because of my hand that not accurately and precisely coming to the point of lining up and sometime it is a second ahead of the music track or a second behind.

Is there any prescribed formula by the Sony Vegas that dragging works precisely and lines up with the recorded music track!

Regards and Blessings!

Hani

If you're doing fine audio editing then turning off Options / Quantize to frames will help a lot. With Quantize on you can only drag in frame increments and won't be able to make fine adjustments.

Zooming in on the timeline can also help your accuracy a lot. If your current timeline shows a full minute across the screen then it's hard to make sub-second adjustments. If you zoom in so that you only have a few seconds across the screen then tiny adjustments are much easier to do and see what you're doing.

Do it in Vegas , not Sound Forge .

Turn off "Snapping" in Options, expand timeline out, find an bit of waveform with a definite attack that should be synchronous on each track, and drag one of the events to visually line them up.

Turning off "Quantise to frames" will give you even finer positional control.
