Subject:New PC, can't extract CD data

Just built a brand new PC and loaded SF7 on it. (The OS is Win 7 64 bit Professional). The first thing I did was I tried to extract the audio data from a CD that I recorded and edit it. I got an "Exception has occurred" message. It reads"

Sony Sound Forge 7.0

Does anyone have a clue as to what the problem might be? The DVD/CD burner plays the CD file just fine so it's not the disc. This is a CD that I recorded too, so it's not a copyright thing.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Does it occur on different CD's?

Sounds like a dodgy or corrupt CD-drive driver. Try un/re-installing the CD-ROM device.

Problem Solved! I ended up having to adjust the Exctraction Optimization level for an older CD drive. I just happened to have a DVD in the drive listening to a concert (Pat Metheny!) and I clicked on the Extract Audio option and it let me into the Extract dialog and I saw the Configure button there.

Don't know why I had to reset that since this is a brand new Blu Ray Burner but by doing that it worked. I was able to put a CD in and extract the audio with no issues.
Thanks for the help guys.

I was wrong. The problem still persists. And yes, it is with different CDs. It's getting kind of old having to go in and make the adjustment on the Extraction Optimization slider each time I have this problem.

I haven't gone out to see if there another driver for my DVD unit so I'll go check that out next.

Not one of those nasty "Copy Controlled" CDs from a few years back, by any chance ? From memory the logo was a tall split isosceles triangle.
