I'm trying to record a vocal while listening to some tracks on Acid, but the recording records the tracks as well as the vocals. How do you record the vocals while listening to the tracks, but not recording the tracks? Does this make sense?

Hello,

Your sound card has to be able to support this ability, You have to set the input to the recorded track to a dedicated input, while the playback outputs to a different source.
What sound card are you using?

Rockit

Leftism,

Your sound card is probably recording the stereo output instead of just the microphone. While I have no experience with Terratec, I'll explain this as generally as I can:

1. Open Acid.
2. Open your project.
3. Double-click on the little yellow speaker in the lower-right-hand corner of your Windows taskbar.
4. Click the "Options" menu, and select "Properties".
5. Click the "Recording" radio button.
6. In the listbox below, look to make sure "MICROPHONE" is checked (if you have multiple inputs, check the one that your mic is plugged into).
7. Click "OK".
8. Look for the "MICROPHONE" fader(or whatever you selected in the previous step), and check the "select" box beneath it.
9. Begin recording data in the program.

That should do it. Again, it's the most generic way to explain it. Soundboards all name their inputs different things, but that's the general process.

Hope this helps,
Nick LaMartina
