A client need a mov wrapper with Codec: XDCAM-HD422 50Mbps. Embedded Audio: PCM 48Khz, 24 Bits (little/big-endian) Frame rate: 29.97 Interlaced (59.94i) Resolution: 1920x1080 VIDEO: 1080i – 59.94 (Interlaced 29.97 FPS) drop-frame. ASPECT RATIO: 16:9 Full Frame 1.78. Non-anamorphic

This is possible with Vegas Pro 13?

Some workflow?

Thanks

Normally that's something you would do in Final Cut on a Mac.

After all the years of the Mac > Windows video "gotchas," I think you've hit upon one on the Mac side - at least with FCP X. I don't believe the Calibrated Q codec used for importing XDCAM .mp4 into FCP 7 is compatible with FCP X. And I also believe Sony's XDCAM browser will only allow a Mac user to import as a .mxf, not a .mov.

I'd just tell the client what is possible to deliver, and let them deal with transcoding if necessary. We've spent plenty of time doing that with Mac generated files.

When I searched a few months ago, I could find no Windows solution to rewrap XDCAM to .mov.

"I could find no Windows solution to rewrap XDCAM to .mov"

... which includes, I assume, the old renaming trick that works with AVC mp4->mov?

I can't speak to ingesting into a Mac NLE, but when I tried that approach for a spot delivery to a cable network, it was rejected. The options for automated ingest were the XDCAM .mov or MPEG2 with PCM audio, neither of which I could deliver.

After I spoke with a tech in person, I was able to deliver a DNxHD.

You're going to need to find someone with a Mac and Apple Compressor 4 to do the conversion for you. I have an Apple Compressor QuickTime template for XDCAM-HD422 50Mbp format already so I know it can be done.

If you do this a lot, you may want to invest in a used Mac Mini ($599) for times like this.

... or maybe I should start a file conversion business for Vegas editors.. lol ;-)
