SCS? VP13 B310 feels real . . erm . .Solid . . .

I know this is going to be the kiss of death, but do I dare suggest that this one feels like 5 or 6 or 7?

I have no idea what they've done under the bonnet, and I'm trying real hard to break it, and but Vegas wont. I'll keep on bashing it.

SCS, thank you.

How'd we do it? Just plain hard work. Plus awesome beta testers who describe how they triggered crashes, and fantastic 3rd party vendors who listen when we report issues.

You're welcome, I'm glad it's working out.

Grazie:

Thus far, I'd have to agree. It's taken about everything I've thrown at it . . . and the latest release made Boris BCC 8 workable. I've done everything possible to bring down NB Title 3 and it even seems rock solid. It's also great to see some interaction from SCS here on the forums.

Even though I was initially underwhelmed by the new features, it is nice to have something that seems pretty solid. Let's hope it stays that way.

It's been working great for me and I've been pounding it pretty hard for a few days now. Once the Cineform codec issue was quickly worked out, it's been smooth sailing.

+1 here too.

not been REALLY pushing it, but looking good so far.

only 'er' moment is opening 20+ minute .mxf files - they take longer to load than equivalent m2t or mp4.

So is 13 a lucky number?

The only way I have been able to routinely crash it is by stabilizing clips with Mercalli. Once that's fixed, I'll toast....

"I've done everything possible to bring down NB Title 3 and it even seems rock solid."

I was doing some stuff with NBTP3 and then it stopped working with a dialog that said I should re-boot or use a later driver version.

So I installed the latest NVidia driver and no more problems. Vegas was also a bit more stable but slower. I installed the earlier driver than the latest and that made Vegas even more stable and slightly faster. Sorry about not saying the driver versions because I cannot remember the numbers and those are on my NLE system.

So NBTP3 does not like the 296.10 driver along with my 560ti. I just ordered a 580 from Ebay (Thanks much OldSmoke for the advice) and I will see how well that works with my system. I got a new/refurbished 580 card.

Using an *.gif that is stretched out for 2 minutes and is scrolled via the pan/crop thingy, if I then render to DVD Architect format, Vegas 13 will hard crash the computer if I do not stop it in time. I can monitor the resources and watch the commit part of memory go way up real fast. The video in the preview will blink when this happens. This is with an SSD for boot and another SSD for project files. If I use a standard hard drive for boot, this will not happen. Rendering to some other formats will also do this. Rendering to Sony AVC for an *.mp4 video will not cause this.

I can have virtual memory setup on a regular hard drive along with the SSD and it will crash. It only works properly if the boot drive is a regular hard drive instead of an SSD.

Later on when I can wake up my brain, I will make-up a downloadable project so others can check this out if needs be. I have to make certain changes to this project because it is a credit roll test that has the real names of children that I cannot send out. So I will have to make up names to replace the real ones.

I can almost get a credit roll to work with NBTP3 with work-around but not quite and it is terribly slow because it does not use the GPU properly. It only uses 7% which is not enough.

This *.gif file was created by Adobe Photoshop Elements. I can use the Adobe file in Vegas with no problem but it is a lot slower. At least it (Adobe file) always works correctly where the NBTP3 does not. The Adobe file while slow is much faster than with NBTP3.

As for Vegas being solid, it already was for the most part on my system because I do not use much in the way of plugins, I do not push it real hard and I do not use odd-ball audio and other hardware stuff either. I keep things as basic as possible. Most important, I prayed and asked the Lord for guidance on building my system. Prayer works!

I have been catching up on encoding mp4 files, thought I would use VP13. GPU assist on; 40 min clips are complete in 20 minutes with out any hang ups or crash. Feels very stable; I am gaining confidence in using VP13 and will definitely use it for my current wedding edit. Especially with the fact that it can open the file VP13 project file in VP12 at any time.

I am no longer using a sheepish voice when asked what software I use for video work. Long time user, absolutely love the GUI. Back on the side lines cheering on SCS!!

Yep. I couldn't agree more. I finally left version 10 behind. For me, at least, 13 is the most stable Vegas in years. I still wish they would change the name though...;-)

Yup, been pretty happy with it.

Only thing is that I am unable to run VP13 using GPU (with GTX570) because it will crash each time, but works great without the GPU. Possibly the wrong driver, but at this time I do not know which driver number to use....
