Vegas Pro13 Cannot Import Movie Studio 13.vf files

I wanted to bring over a couple .vf template files so I don't have to start from scratch on video projects I am working on. However, in Vegas Pro 13 everytime I try to bring over a .vf file the system says :

The file appears to have been created in a newer version of Vegas Pro, and is not supported by this version of Vegas Pro. Please download and install the latest update of Vegas Pro.

There are no later updates. Please advise.

Yes, sorry, that was an oversight. One of my fellow programmers is working on supporting the MS13 file format right now.

Chris is correct here.

To this end, I've updated the project versioning to support Movie Studio 13 project files.

Due to this change, starting with the next released Vegas Pro 13 update after the current Build 310 release (whenever that occurs), you will _not_ be able to load VP 13 project files saved from said update into versions prior to that.

This includes VP 12 and prior releases, and VP 13 releases Build 290 and 310.

Lack of backwards compatibility is why I never used Vegas 12 much, I didn't want to find out that after a lot of work, a project e.g. wouldn't render, and that I couldn't open it in Vegas 11 (which I knew worked pretty well). Surely Sony could create an option "save as" select "choose earlier version V11, V12 " with perhaps a warning of which few features couldn't be saved

After further internal discussion, and taking into account feedback from this forum, we are planning on having the next released VP13 update support reading Movie Studio 13 project files, while retaining backward compatibility with Vegas 12.

This means you should be able to:
-open projects saved from VP13 and previous versions
-open Movie Studio 13 projects in VP13
-continue to load saved VP13 projects in VP12
