Vegas Pro or Pro Ultimate?

I watched the NAB video, "Hear about Vegas Pro and FX Home in this Sony Creative Software stage presentation from NAB 2014. Presented by Tom McLoughlin.", but I am still not sure what you get with the Pro 13 suite. Is it the full HitFilm Ultimate or just a few subsets, like BCC units? At the end of his presentation (36:55), he said: " .. I'm afraid that we don't have the direct motion tracking in Vegas... but it is in Hit Film Ultimate". So, I am confused. Does the Vegas Pro suite include the full HF Ultimate product or not?

I have BCC7 mostly for the motion tracking, but I find the learning curve to be a bit steep. So, should I upgrade to BCC9 or Vegas Pro Suite with Hitfilm?

Steve, you do get the full version of Hitfilm Ultimate 2 that you can use as standalone. So I was told by Sony on their live chat.

I have BCC8 but if I do upgrade to V13, I will most likely get Hitfilm and not upgrade to BCC9 since I had issues with the BCC8 plugin. The chrmakeyer inside Hitfilm is just outstanding and better than BCC8 keyer.

I can verify that you get Ultimate. It is the full product. I upgraded to Suite for 299 on the special deal. A no brainer since I wanted Hitfilm and so got the update for VP13 as well in the deal (and SoundForge and Production Assistant and Music and SFX etc.).

Boris Keyer is very good. It is cumbersome as implemented in VP because of the way VP handles compositing. The bad thing about Hitfilm is that it processes in 16 bit rather than 32 bit. This can produce some degradation in quality of the effects applied. For green screen there may be edge artifacts on the matte. Typical places where this comes into play is in color banding that occurs rather than smooth gradients. Boris (I believe) processes at full 32 bit.

I originally thought it included all of the native Hitfilm plugin effects inside of Vegas but that is another $399.

If you buy the Suite you get the full version of Hitfilm Ultimate. As an Ultimate owner you can then cross-grade to the Hitfilm FX for $359. The Hitfilm FX have that great keyer and most of the other Ultimate FX but only Ultimate gives you the full 3D compositing tools.

The BCC 9 VP upgrade is $175 atm (until the end of April) so it might be worth upgrading even if you buy the Suite. BCC has some other very useful FX that Hitfilm don't offer.

The VP13 release has been my most expensive upgrading period of all time but with the release of Hitfilm FX, BCC 9 and now Magic Bullet Looks 2.5 there are more amazing features available in VP now than at any other time.
