Acid cannot find Internet Connection! -ACID Product Family

Subject:Acid cannot find Internet Connection! Posted by: gadawg Date:1/26/2002 11:34:27 AM I am using Acid Music 3.0 and have a DSL connection. When I go to the get media button it says I am not connected to the Internet. I am using IE 5.5 SP2 and my operating system is Win 2000 Professional. I am not behind a firewall and my DSL connection is working fine. I have searched the forums and it seems like quite a few other people are encountering the same problem. There is nothing wrong with my IE 5.5 installation so repairing it is not an option. I have upgraded my Acid Music Installation to the latest build e. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help!. I ran the IE auto-repair a few times, ran every Norton Utilities fix they've got and still couldn't get ACID to recognize the DSL connection. I didn't want to "upgrade" to IE 6 because I read the reviews on CNET and most people were saying it was trash - unstable, locks up, blah, blah. Well, I decided to try it anyway and installed IE 6. Now ACID recognizes my DSL connection very quickly and IE 6 is incredibly fast and stable for net surfing. I've come to the conclusion that most reviews on CNET are by people who run poorly set up and maintained systems, download tons of crap and like to rip Microsoft at any opportunity. IE 6 should take care of the problem.

If you still have the problem, Contact Sonic Foundry and let them know when it happened. It happened to me as well, and I'm using a 56K dialup connection and Win XP with IE 6.0, So it's definitely not us it was the site. See ya, Rockit
