Curious about .frg project files -Sound Forge - PC

I've edited probably somewhere north of 2000 projects since .frg project files were added to SoundForge and i've still never saved one. I've not once ever failed to complete everything i wanted to do. I guess i've just never come across a situation where saving a "project" would give me some functionality beyond simply saving what i've edited into an audio file. How do you folks benefit from this?
