Windows 7 64-bit crash... any ideas?

Good day,

I've been getting random crashes using CD Architect 5.2d. The error happens when I begin to burn a disc after the "burning lead-in" finishes. I've also burned using other brand of CD's from Verbatim (Moser Baer) with no problems. I always burn disabling anti-virus software. This error occurs intermittently. I don't have packet writing software running in the background (ex. InCD). My DVD drive is SATA ASUS DRW-24B1ST (firmware 1.03 which is the latest). I'm using AHCI mode enabled in the bios. Here is the error reported from Event Viewer.

You do know that CD Architect is 32 bit, right?
I highly doubt that it'll run in a 64 bit OS.

Well according to several sources the program does indeed run in 64 bit. Here are the links:

Windows 7 Software Compatibility

From Sony Vegas Knowledge Base

Yes I am very well aware the CD Architect is 32 bit code. The error I get happens very intermittently. Sometimes it works, sometimes it causes a crash. If the software did not work at ALL in 64 bit windows, there would have been an up roar of complaints. Just pointing out the error message I got from Event Viewer so either the Sony Software Engineers or the peers of the forums can see.

Kevin.

CDA 5.2d runs just fine on Win 7x64 Pro for me - no probems. I also run my drives with AHCI. If you are having problems, must be something else.

I actually figured out something. I was creating a 16 track project. All the files are in .MP3 format. I saved the entire thing as CD Architect Project File (.cdp). When previewing the second track it caused the crash which I described earlier. Scratching my head as to why the program would crash when previewing this particular .MP3 file. In Windows, it plays perfectly fine as well in Sound Forge Pro v.10b. If I don't preview that .MP3 file, the burning process either goes well or caput.

For fun, I didn't load the .CDP project file at all and just put the .MP3 files on the timeline in the same order on a brand new project. Preview that same .MP3 no crash at all. Saved the whole thing as new .CDP file. Closed the program, re-opened it, played the 2nd .MP3 no crash.

Closed and re-opened CD Architect and this time loaded the .CDP file that caused the crash. Played the .MP3 file, voila... a crash.

My conclusion has to be somehow the .CDP file either got corrupt somehow.

Thanks for everyone's reply

Kevin.

I'm just trialing CD Architect for the first time on a Windows 7 64bit pro machine. Strangely, it crashed many times in a row and the suddenly became stable. Try and figure that one out !

For me it goes fine until I hit 'Play' for the first time. Then it whites out "not responding'" for maybe 20 seconds before playing. Then it behaves just fine for the rest of the session.
