Can anybody show me how to change/adjust the input device to be selected for recording on SF5.0? Right now all I can do is open up files I've d/l'ed from the 'net on SF. I can't record from the CDR drives nor can I record streaming 'net audio. I'm getting lost on SF 'help'. I know this is a newbie kind of question but I'm at wits at the moment. Thanks in advance for any help. Eric Gaumann |

Normally you won't record from CDs; you'll "Extract Audio from CD" instead. Click on the tools menu and you'll see it there. It's pretty straight forward and can be very fast depending on the speed of your CD drive. Each track just becomes a file in a window in Sound Forge. You may or may not be able to record streaming audio. Some of it is protected to prevent you from recording it. You can try going to the sound mixer (double click the little yellow speaker icon in your Windows task bar), go to Options, Recording, and select an input labeled something like "Mixed Output" or "What You Hear". With this selected, Sound Forge should be able to record just about anything that you can hear in your speakers. |

WOOHOO!!!! It works now! Thanks Cheinworks, you rock!!!! In case anyone else is wondering the procedure is: double-click the speaker icon in the taskbar, click options, click properties, click recording (adjust volume for),click microphone for mic recording,or click "wave out mix" for stuff streaming in from the 'net (in this case it's a radio show archive opened and played on Real Player). Thanks again Eric |
