Yes, I just tried it, and it crashed for me too. The Problem Details shows CFHD.DLL as the cause of problem.

Uninstalled Cineform, keeps crashing during startup phase, so I have sent problem report.

I had to uninstall GoPro Studio, BlueTiler, and then uninstall Vegas 13 trial, then reinstall Vegas 13 trial to get it working.

I am rendering my first test project now.

I have not had a problem with this.
GoPro studio 2.0.1, Vegas 13.
I was able to render something and put the render on the timeline and play.
My sample was 1080p60 and I rendered to Cineform Medium.

No problems here but I'm using CineForm NeoScene 5.6.2.

No crashes at all. I can load my old CineForm files onto the Vegas Pro 13.0 timeline and render to CineForm without any issues.

Do they smart-render? I've got no problems with crashes with Cineform files ( I also have Neoscene), but smart-render is still broken for me unlike other codecs such as Lagarith or Canopus HQ.

same issue for me -- crashes upon startup complaining about the cfhd.dll. If I rename the dll so Vegas doesn't load it, it starts up fine - but this isn't a solution.

Please let us know if/when support responds. Rather frustrating it won't even start without manipulation.

Note other threads have already discussed similar issue patterns - the Cineform encoder of legacy - like neoscene - is a different issue than using the format or newer GoPro files - recorded in what format settings?

Add me to the list... I had just installed Vegas Pro 13 for the first time and had just entered my serial number and went through the registration process, Vegas crashed IMMEDIATELY upon launch with CFHD.DLL being the culprit. I am running Cineform Studio Premium v2.0.1.319. My entire workflow is based on the Cineform codec, so uninstalling it is not really an option. I also reported this to Cineform. I guess I should add that this is on a machine running Windows 8.1.1, haven't tried it on my Windows 7 machines yet.

Problem Description
Application Name: Vegas Pro
Application Version: Version 13.0 (Build 290) 64-bit

Fault Module: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CFHD.dll

Cant install Gopro free without crashing Vegas 13 I wanted to buy Cineform but I guess this is not an option.
NormanPCN wrote on 4/19/2014, 9:42 AM
Is the problem only with the Premium version of GoPro studio. I see reports in this thread of issues mentioning the premium version.

I only use the free version and have not had problems. Windows 7. My GoPro was installed before I installed Vegas 13.
mark2929 wrote on 4/19/2014, 9:49 AM
Norman Are you using windows 8?
NormanPCN wrote on 4/19/2014, 9:53 AM
No Windows 7
videoITguy wrote on 4/19/2014, 9:55 AM
Always wise to install VegasPro first , then the Cineform encoder regardless of any other parameters.

Some have reported they are fine with the codec that is the one in legacy, or the more recent codec that is in the free version.

BUT - then if you don't put in your system specs, please tell us the iteration of the Windows OS you are using to do the install, please.

Then post your situation ...

No, they do not. It should be noted that Sony does not claim to Smart Render CineForm files. I just check the help files going back to Vegas 6 and there was never any mention of Smart Rendering CineForm. Vegas 6 and 7 don't even support Smart Rendering. Vegas Pro 8.0 thru 13.0 never list CineForm as a Smart Render format. Here is what the Vegas Pro 13.0 docs say:

Smart Render
When you render video to any of the following formats, unedited video frames are passed through without recompression (smart rendering):

So Smart Rendering CineForm was never a "feature". It was just a "side-effect" that no longer works. If it works with Lagarith or Canopus HQ that's great but it's still not a feature. Sony makes no statement about supporting "generic" AVI smart rendering, just DV.

I know at one point Sony changed to the new CineForm API but everything seems to have gone downhill from there. I had to spend more money to upgrade my NeoScene at that point and then it broke again when GoPro bought them. I still have problems viewing CineForm in anything less that Best(Full) but if I keep the preview at Best(Full) it all seems to work. Needless to say, I don't use CineForm anymore except as an exchange format between programs. It's just not a reliable format to keep my video in (i.e., you never know if it will work in the next version of Vegas Pro).

Norman, I'm on Windows 8 and it doesn't work on mine. So if it works on yours I imagine its been tested by Sony on windows 7 and needs a fix for windows 8.

Also Cineform free worked fine on my Vegas 12 using windows 8 As well as Cineforms trial version where I could render out filmscan 1 and 2.

So lets hope there's a fix for this coming up.
