SF 11 Pro an annoyance. While I'm recording the meters to the extreme right of my screen are dead - no sign of the recording levels at all.

Can somebody kindly tell me where / how to set them to "on".

Thank you.

Are you certain you're recording audio? You first want to make sure your microphone is configured right.

If so, try switching your Windows Layout to Stereo Recording and see if that makes a difference.

Most likely a sound card or interface setting. Proper input must be selected on a sound card (line, mic, stereo, ect.). In SF the desired Record and Playback device must be selected as well. Usually the "Classic Wave Driver" or "Microsoft Sound Mapper" works with an internal sound card. This setting is under the SF menu "Options> Preferences> Audio" menu.

Thanks for coming back to me guys - its obvious I didn't make myself clear.

I'm recording my vinyl 45s / LPs via 2 line outs from my hi fi amplifier and the actual process of recording works fine.

But I used to be able to set the recording level from my amplifier by testing a part of the recording and looking at the L / R meters at the right edge of the screen which show the audio level of the recording - the things that go up and down depending on how high the recording level is.

These meters are now not working under Win 8.1 - there is no life to them at all - and I can't find a way of setting them so that they monitor the level of the recording input on the Left and Right Channels.

Can somebody pleasew tell me how to turn them on during recording. Thank you.

My aplogies for the confusion!

SF11:
In the View Menu, select "Record Options".
Then select "On" in the 'Monitor' pull-down thingy.
You must have at least ARMED the recording for the meters to show.

Now the above is for my Win7_64 setup; I assume is same for Win8.

Thank you ChristoC worked fine. I hope the setting is remembered for my next recording session.

Same thing here, although the audio seems to be recording properly even though no levels are showing.

When I bring up View --> Record Options, the level meters in that window are showing signals normally. When I turn the Monitor on in that window, the main meters start showing signal, but I also get tremendous hiss and echo, which disappears immediately when I turn the Monitor off.

I didn't have this problem in SF10; in fact, I just fired it up alongside SF11, and the meters in 10 are working as expected.

*SEMI FIXED* The recording input was set to Microsoft Sound Mapper; changing it to Windows Classic Wave Driver got rid of most of the echo, but when I pause the source audio while recording with Monitor on, I can hear a fraction of a second of delayed audio -- which I don't get when pausing the source audio with Monitor off.

FYI - I'm having the same problem as you on monitoring input, and the same problem on trying to implement the solution...
