Input/ output meters not responding -ACID Product Family

Subject:Input/ output meters not responding Posted by: peejay Date:1/18/2014 3:21:32 PM Hi I have another question re. Acid pro 7. I'm recording a track using line in on my laptop, but am not able to get the input/ output meters within acid pro to monitor either input or output. They are registering some signal internal to my laptop (meters within acid pro continue to register even when I remove line in cable) but do not respond to change in input/ output level of the instrument. The strange thing is that it records and plays back the instrument perfectly and I can tell from the waveform that but the recording level does respond to volume changes I make on the instrument when I record, but they don't register on the input meter. I also have music studio which works properly using the identical settings (laptop and within acid software) I'm using in acid pro so it's not any sound settings I have within my laptop. I've changed the scale on the meters and it's definitely not that. Also, when I play back the recorded track the output meter does respond to master volume and everything is normal. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it just going to drive me crazy?! Thanks!

I also know it has to be an ACID thing because I loaded up Sound Forge and brought up the record dialog box, and that tracks input just fine. But yeah, when in ACID, both my input and output meters flutter and even reach as high as -13.7dB. However, after recording I see from the clip event that it has been recorded correctly.

Actually, since my original post I'm so sick and tired of the system crashes occurring in both Music Studio and Acid Pro (I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, Dell XPS), especially when trying to add effects etc. that I no longer use it. For whatever reason it is totally dysfunctional with my system set-up, and I don't have the time/ patience/ tech skills to get it working properly!
