Subject:Sound Forge 11 recording a specific length

Hi all. I am confused as to how to enter in a specific time for each recording. I am a broadcast meteorologist and I have clients that want very specific length files. In SF 10, if I want to record, for example, a file that is exactly 25.75 seconds long, when I hit record, a window pops up that allows me to enter that as the length and the recording will stop at exactly that spot. I can't find the option to do that in 11. The only thing I see when I select record by time is an option to schedule a recording by date and time, but that is impractical for what I do. Under mode on SF 10 (and all other previous versions I have used starting with 8) there is an option called "Punch-in (record specific length)." That is not appearing in 11. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have 11, so i don't know from personal experience, but from reading these forums it looks like a lot of liked and useful features didn't make the jump from 10 to 11.

As a work around, is there any reason you can't trim the file to that length after recording? It's what i would do anyway because then i get to pick the in/out points after the fact, rather than having to try to sync my recording process so exactly.

SCS has a history of dropping useful elements and complicating intuitive procedures. (Like SloTools)
That said, have you looked into the "View> Record Options" menu. However, the only possible option I see is timer recording.
I would use SF-10 or an earlier version. Multiple versions of SF can co-exist on a PC w/o issue, so older/newer versions need not be uninstalled.

So essentially I flushed $200 down the crapper on this upgrade. The sound of the recording is awesome. But without timed recording, its useless to me.

The more I read about SF11 the more I'm glad I resisted the urge to upgrade.

Kit, probably one of the single worst upgrades of any software I have ever used. Upgrades are supposed to enhance features, not delete useful ones and make it harder to use.

Sound Forge 11 is to Sony as Windows 8 is to Microsoft
