Is there a way to delete selected audio? The only choices I see are cut or copy.

Have you tried pressing the Delete button on your keyboard?

"Edit> Delete (Clear)" or the keyboard Delete key.
"Cut" does the same thing, but temporary saves the selection in the clipboard.
If desired, another or different keyboard shortcut can be created in "Options> Customize Keyboard" menu.. OR.. customize the toolbar w/an icon. "Options> Preferences> Toolbar> Customize"
