I've got tickets in with MSFT, Waves and Sony on this, but I thought I'd ask the real cognoscenti: on a Win8Pro machine, when I try to process a file in SFPro 10.0e using a Waves plug-in, I can do so only once. any succeeding attempts results in SFPro crashing. this does not happen on a Win7Pro machine. any ideas? ...joe patti production mgr WRTI Philadelphia producer, Phila Orchestra Radio |

I have Waves Platinum, and I think I was using Renaissance Compressor, Renaissance EQ, and Renaissance Channel when the crashes were happening. |

Anybody aware of any progress on this? My behavior is identical to the OP. One Waves plug is fine, but opening a second crashes SF. Today I was using Q1, Q2, Q10, L2...doesn't seem to matter which plugs. |

We are discussing this with Waves as we are seeing it in Windows 8 also. We do not see this behavior in Windows 7. If you could provide the steps/workflow that cause this problem, it would prove helpful. Peter |

Sorry for the delay. It got me again today. Pretty straight-forward and repeatable problem. Open a file in SF, open and apply any Waves plug (today it was H-comp); open any other Waves plug (today it was L2) and Sound Forge crashes hard, requiring the Task Manager to get out. I immediately re-opened SF and applied the L2, then tried to open a Q4 and it crashed again. This is Waves Platinum 9.1 as I haven't yet updated to 9.2. No problem on the same computer in my XP partition, even though Waves 9 isn't officially supported in XP. Message last edited on6/25/2013 5:06:27 PM byseanmccoy. |

"Any progress on finding a resolution?" We are waiting to hear back from Waves on this. Waves have not been able to reproduce the problem. Peter Message last edited on7/5/2013 8:32:58 PM bypwppch. |

This is both encouraging and frustrating :-0 Scratch that - see comments further down! This is affecting me and my work colleagues - 4 machines. It's not costing me money - hobbyist, but at work this is a serious problem and costing my boss money. All the machines are Win8 Pro 64bit, Sound Forge 10, Waves 9r12, very little additional software installed. I've just spoken to Waves, and they've confirmed this is an issue - i.e. replicated the issue, and that Sony have said they need to work with Microsoft to sort something out to get this working. If anyone here at Sony can push to try and get this issue resolved swiftly it would be greatly appreciated - a temporary patch until a full release? Waves's solution - move to Windows 8 32bit :-( |

Interesting that Waves told you we are talking to MS. We are not. We are waiting to hear from Waves as we have provided everything we can, and believe the crash is in their UI code. This is the first we have heard that they can even reproduce the problem. Will ping them to see what they have discovered. Peter |

Hi Peter, If it the UI causing problems then it could be the fact that Windows 7 4 bit uses Qt 4.7.x and Windows 8 64 bit uses Qt 4.8.x.... Just a thought. If you can ping them that would be great. Cheers Rob |

Hi Rob, Just wanted to let you (and others) know that I talked to Waves again about this yesterday. They can reproduce the issue and it does indeed only occur on Win8 64-bit. It is a high priority issue for them and they are considering publishing an official announcement about this. We are all very hopeful that a resolution will be coming soon. If there is any update I will be sure to share it with this thread. Thanks, Dave |

So I wonder first if this issue will ever be resolved now that SF 11 has been released, and second if it has already been resolved in SF 11. |

The situation remains the same. The problem is with the Waves plugins, and confirmed by Waves. We tried many workarounds, but none resolved the issue for Forge 11. We added a note to the Forge 11 release notes that explain this issue as well. You may want to contact Waves to see if they have any further status to report. Peter |

All, Waves just recently updated v9 (v9r13) of their plug-ins and it fixes this crash for both Sound Forge Pro 10 and Sound Forge Pro 11. Thanks to everyone for their patience. Regards, Dave Message last edited on8/14/2013 10:20:22 AM byForumAdmin. |

Strangely enough, the same crashing problem has now returned after disappearing for several months. No changes to the Windows, Sound Forge or Waves versions. Sigh. |

Downloaded and installed the latest Waves plugs, re-scanned them in Sound Forge. Same problem. Crash if more than one Waves plug is chosen in a session. Really weird that this stopped, then re-started. Am I the only one still seeing this? |

Well, I finally got rid of the crashing issue. Somehow it seems at some point I ended up with both a set of individual .dll files and a WaveShell file in the directory at the same time. Cleaning that up also eliminated the crashes. For now. ;) |
