clicks on playback, but not on file -Sound Forge - PC

Subject:clicks on playback, but not on file Posted by: slunk0132 Date:1/17/2002 6:49:37 PM I am recording on a new Gateway laptop, through the line in with SF 4.5 XP. I always hear pops and clicks when I am playing back the file, but not while recording. I recorded the same way onto my other computer, a dell desktop, without the problem. The only strange thing is that when I copy the files from my laptop onto a cdrw and listen to them on my desktop I don't hear any pops. Also, when I hear the pops on my laptop, they do not always occur in the same place on the song. Does anyone have any suggestions? I have tried increasing the buffer, decreasing the hardware accelerator, decreasing the audio sampling quality, and nothing has worked.

Defragment your drive(s) and run scan disc. Close all unnessesary programs running in the background. ie: screensavers, anti-virus app.s ect.
