Acid Music Studio 10 - is released. A few new features. Even sound cloud links within the App. Windows 8.1 ready.
Has anyone read the specs on it? And looked at any of the new features?
What's your take?
I will also note this comes once again before a new version of ACID Pro…

Speculate - Go wild… is 2014 the year the curse ends for Acid Pro?

Really? Are we really going to keep this fantasy going again? AP is dead.

Enjoy Acid Studio - that's as good as it's going to get.

You are probably right. However through various threads there are those who have mentioned maybe it will be re-birthed in a MAC version… I doubt that.
I have remained silent for months now as on a day to day basis I am quite content in other platforms. But curiosity always does peek my interest when I see a new version of ACID… regardless of the pro version or not.

ACID Pro is the only platform that SCS has not updated in 5 years plus.
But yet… there are still a few of us roaming around these forums and chiming in from time to time to see if anything is new… hmmm…

I purchased Acid 10 only to find it is not compatible with Windows Vista, a perfectly current operating system. I did my dough there. And Sony have not responded as to my requests for help.

Vista mainstream support officially ended on April 10, 2012.

Therefore - it is hardly a "current" OS by any stretch. Windows 7 and Windows 8 are the only two Microsoft OS options that can be considered current.

You cannot fault Sony for only supporting the two most recent OS options. This is the norm across almost all vendors and verticals.

Yes and it sucks as I like to use my precious gear until it finally gives up. I am still using my original Windows XP laptop which is 10 years old to run those programs and it works just fine. I am not one to just buy a new OS to keep up with software. Vista is still supported by Microsoft. I have a new Windows 7 64 bit PC with solid state hard drive and 2.5 TB of memory but I downloaded Acid 10 on my Vista laptop, and Sony have not replied as to my question is the new version 10 64 bit? I don't want to put the downloaded one I cannot install on a 64 bit computer if it is 32 bit.

Actually, you can. I installed AP7e with all my plugins on a Sony Tap 11 with Windows 8.1 64bit. Works great.

@519barr

I share your curiosity. I wondered recently if SCS will simply incorporate all "Pro" features into future "Studio" releases and call it done. Your thoughts?

There is no question to answer - just install APS10 on your Windows 7 box and go at it. It works without issue. Win 7 x64 is designed to seamlessly work with any 32bit application.

I do not believe APS10 is 64 bit anyway so don't worry about it.

@AudioVizionz

I don't think so; they rebranded the professional version of Sound Forge with the "Pro" label not too long ago, probably to distinguish itself from the Studio line.

I imagine the same applies to ACID...though curiously, some things I've been pining for are in the latest version of Studio (like grouping clips/events). Still, even the latest version of Studio doesn't have some of what ACID Pro 7 has (like input busses, bus to bus, ReWire and envelope automation during recording).

Thank you all for the suggestions. I guess if I install Sony Acid Music Studio 10 which you suggest is 32 bit on my 64 bit PC do I have to be on line to register it with the supplied licence at the time of install? And will my 64 bit plugins work in it?

Nope. Nary a 32bit app that I know can use a 64 bit plugin.

Ok thanks everybody. As all my cubase and waves plugins are 64 bit then there is no point using Sony Acid until it becomes 64 bit.

My guess is you will be waiting an infinite amount of time before Sony makes Acid or Sound Forge Pro 64 bit. Even the new SFPro11 is 32 bit.
