Hi I'm new to the world of DAWs and recording via laptop, and am unable to record a solo instrument (keyboard) track without the backing tracks being recorded onto the same track using Acid Pro7. I have a simple set up which consists of keyboard output plugged into laptop input, which uses the default Windows Sound Mapper as does the output. I listen to sound via the headphone output on my laptop. I can import loops but would like to record a separate track with my keyboard. Even with the backing loop tracks not armed for recording they are always recorded onto my keyboard track. Is there a way to simply record my keyboard track into a new track, while being able to listen to the backing tracks but not recording them at the same time? Does this require the use of an audio interface? If so, which are compatible with Acid Pro and simple to use? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide! |

In the sound card's control panel mixer window go to Recording, and make sure you have selected the Line In. Right now what you have selected is something like 'mixed ouput', 'speaker', or 'what u hear'. This means that you're recording all the sounds that your computer is producing as well as what's coming in. Setting it to line in will make sure you only record the keyboard sounds. |

Cheers. I first had to do a driver update and now things are fine. Thanks! |
