Render Glitch - No Sound!

This has happened to me before and I don't know why. Basically Vegas renders the image but not the sound. I've tried different rendering formats and of course have checked the audio options when rendering - but no sound. Anyone else experience this or can suggest a cure? I'm using Vegas 12 Build 770, Windows 64 bit, soundcard Envy24 Family Audio Controller WDM (Manufacturer: VIA - IC Ensemble, Inc.)

I tried various, mp4, mxf, avi, even wav but Vegas wasn't the problem. Boy, do I feel foolish. Somehow the player I was using had had its sound turned down to zero, not muted but zero sound. I discovered this by copying a test file to another computer. I don't know if this was the case the previous time. If so, some accidental key combination must have caused the sound to zero out and then again to return to normal. Anyway problem resolved.
