That's great! Don't have to put up with dubious new features and that steady stream of bug fix updates which usually breaks something already there. Steady like a rock and works on Win 7/8. Never crashed on me once in those 5 years and I've recorded up to 8 live performance tracks at a time without a hitch. Finally using all the features brilliantly put in years ago. Workflow like no other. If you know what you're doing, the comping, punch-in handling is excellent. For live recording or for loop based music, there's nothing out there that is better. NEVER will I abandon this baby. Sure, if you're into that dubstep/trance/synth crap you may want to use something else but you know what? For live layered flawless recording with a smattering of loops, Acid is king. LONG LIVE ACID! Other than that, I'm fine, thank you.

Did you have to take any special steps to get it to work on Windows 8. Thanks.

If you want crashes, try it in Win7 64-bit.

How about the validity of some updates to give, say, the event-alignment functionality of Vegas. No ?

That's what I'm using now without problems. Could be one of a thousand reasons why you're having trouble. Bummer. As for the 'alignment' thing, are you referring to the flash of color you get in Vegas when two clips come together? Yes, it would be nice. But for me, with snapping on the beat markers and the ability to zoom in fast on the timeline with a twirl of the mouse wheel, it seems redundant. For me, at least. But with so many workflows out there, I'm sure it would benefit some. I used to bitch and moan about pitch correction in Acid compared to the way Melodyne handle it. Now, instead of adding another program to the bloat on my computer, I just cut and isolate the note and shift it up or down a few cents until it sounds right. Fast and efficient. And I've also become more proficient with using the Sony built in effects instead of loading a zillion effect plugins which surely bugger-up Acid. I stick with the bundled iZotope stuff for mastering and use some track harmonic exciters from them in Ozone and Alloy. Anyway, when an OS comes out that won't run Acid Pro 7, I'll make a few disk clones, unplug the computer from the net and merrily work away while everyone else moves up to bigger and better things. They'll have to pry Acid from my cold dead hard disk.

What products do you think Sony could be releasing at CES tomorrow?
Their facebook says they have some surprises?
Is it more like Puff the Magic Dragon? Or could this finally be something substantial?

If you want crashes, try it in Win7 64-bit.

No issues here in Win 7 64 bit. Must be something unique to your setup - or a crap plugin giving you hassle.

I rarely ever use ACID these days, but i do have version Pro 7 installed under Win7/64 bit and it runs flawlessly.

If not Acid itself, probably M-Audio Keystation USB MIDI keyboard driver.

Closest I came to that was the M-Audio Axiom USB sometime ago. Loaded the drivers and Acid picked it up fine. It was only later that I discovered I couldn't play the thing and ended up opening the piano roll and shoved notes around until I picked out a tune I liked to hand off to the real musicians. But if you're married to your Keystation then you just gotta go with a program that can run it without crashing.

@ .... it's just so much more convenient than my KX-88 !

I bought a Roland FP-7F for the studio. 88 fully weighted keys. A beauty. Got some great organ and rhodes patches. It's got a midi port but I just plug it directly into my audio interface with cables. I can't play it, it's for the musicians I hire. Sometimes, I'll plug it into an amp and record off that. Sure, I can't edit any midi notes but getting several live 'takes' makes up for it somewhat. If you're a musician, you just gotta go with the instrument you prefer. Acid is just a tool. As much as I like the program and revel in the wonders it can perform, it's still only a tool. It simply won't make music for you. Maybe you could get the midi tracks recorded in the bundled software it came with and bring that into Acid. Just saying.

i would like a 64bit version. but honestly i have moved on. mostly due to other software was supported with updates and working in multiple studios with pro tools. not arguing which is better just what is being used in my market.
