Would like to move custom made presets to...

I tried asking this numerous ways and the search doesn't seem to know what I'm talking about.
How do I transfer custom made Vegas Pro settings from one computer to another computer?
I know some of you probably do this all the time, but I never have. I'm trying to save some time, from having to find it in the manual. I'm hoping somebody here has done this enough, that they can say, "just grab contents from such and such folder from (path on C drive) and put in same folder on the other computer

One computer has died, but I can access the harddrive. What is the folder or folders that I'd need to get all my custom made settings for effects and text, so I can take them to a different computer and put them with that Vegas? Does it have to be the same version of Vegas, or will a newer version know what to do?
I have numerous EQ and audio custom made settings, a lot of text settings and some certain video effect settings, render settings and anything else you can think of, I forgot to mention. :D
From Vegas 8, and I have Vegas 10, but rarely need it for what I do, so hardly use it. Or I may re-install 8 if I have to. Either way, if somebody could tell me. This has to be fairly simple. Thanks in advance.......

Assuming you use Windows 7 OS, or even Vista you should be able to find what you need in what I've listed below:

Look under your user folder (usually your name) \App Data\Local\Sony\Vegas Pro\12.0 - lot's of presets like keyboard shortcuts, etc

also: User folder\AppData\Roaming\Sony\ - you will find various plug-in data folders here you will need to copy

also: User folder\AppData\Roaming\Sony\Vegas Pro\12.0 - layout data other presets for Vegas are here

C:\Program Data\Sony\Vegas Pro\12.0\ - may or may not need profiles data from here

Now here is the big one:

C:\Program Files\Sony\Vegas Pro 12\ - Lots of folders here containing lots of data.

you will have to search thru the various folders for what you are looking for and add them to your new build.

You might just copy the whole thing and add anything that isn't already contained in your new build, although you do run the risk of passing on corrupted data doing this. But if you are confident that your current setup is working properly, this shouldn't be a problem.

Hope you find what you need,

Will

The majority of the settings are in the Windows registry under the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\12.0\Metrics\Application

I personally have never tried exporting those and re-importing them via regedit, so I don't know if that would work...

I've done this before using Vegasaur.

I'm not sure if copying between different versions is feasible; you could ask Vegasaur support. I think he is a member on this forum.
