Subject:recording Question PLEASE HELP!!!

Dont know much about Sound Forge 10 can you tell me how to record a track with no vocals aleady on it and record my vocals to add to the track. basically i already have a Karaoke Track with no vocals and im wanting to record me singing to the Track. please Help |

You can't do this entirely in Sound Forge, as it's not really a multitracker that allows playback of some tracks and simultaneous recording of others. It does neither sound-with-sound nor sound-on-sound like you might expect from a tape recorder. Vegas is the tool for that. However, you could play back the accompaniment track in just about any other program such as Media Player, Vegas, Acid, pretty much anything except Sound Forge, then mix that audio with your microphone input, and record the mixed result in Sound Forge. How you mix them together varies with what hardware you have. Most consumer audio cards will let you mix right on the card and then you can record the 'stereo output', 'mixed output', or 'what u hear' output. Note that you can't go back and adjust the relative levels after the fact. If you get it wrong, you have to do it all over again. |
