Subject:SF5.0 crashes while opening wav

try this one: sf5.0 installs properly, computer with win98SE is giga-fast, but whenever i try to open a wav-file from my hard disk, the opening would stop between 44 and 70 percent and freeze the whole system.
may this have the same reason as the facr, that even windows media player stutters occasionally while playing wavs???

need a solution so bad!!!
