Render stops - Appx time to 0, Elapsed time going

I don't know whats going on. MS has worked fine up until yesterday. I went to render the project and it takes forever, but then stalls about 50-60%.

The Approximate time left is at 0:00:00 and the Elapsed Time is still counting up. The video doesn't finish so I have to end task on the program.

I have done a full clean install and it does the same thing.

Have you saved your project file in a managed folder?

This is an option when you select New Project (rather than a plain Blank Project).

Try doing a Save As and saving your project under a different name in its own folder.

You may also want to run Windows Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter just to make sure you aren't bumping into old temp and fragmented files.

Actually though, defragmenting won't have any effect at all, and even if it did, it won't prevent "bumping into old" files, since this doesn't happen even with a fragmented disk.

In fact, defragmenting is a useless obsolete holdover from ancient days of early drives and now is actually harmful as it merely adds more wear and tear on the drive and potentially risks the data, without having any benefit whatsoever. I see defragmenting suggested as a cure for so many problems that it wouldn't have helped, even back in the days when defragmenting *was* useful. This is one of them.

At any rate, the computer goes through diagnostics nightly. The drive is healthy and clean.

The video card also registers OK. The GeForce GTX 560 has 2 GB of memory.

I am in the process of another clean install to try and figure out the problem. I have CUDA turned on in the render, so I'll try it with and without CUDA settings.
