Well no reply to my earlier question. Guess
I'll try another one. Any suggestions for
a good sound Card. Have a PIII 550 Mhz 384
Megs Ram. Currently using the SoundBlaster
card that came with the machine. Have a
BR-532 multitracker with Digital out on it.
Anyone have any good tips/help on selecting
a decent Card ?

i have a mia 2496 by echo audio. quite a sound! it makes the recording sound better than the original record with out using any effects to enhance it.

the mia and the audiophile 2496 seem to be getting the best rave reviews. and quite reasonably priced.

one thing to watch before you purchase one is that some of these pro type cards have no input level controls. you will need a mixer on those, like the mia. this feature does allow for better sound.

if i did want one with input level controls, i would have picked the audiophile myself.

it appears one would have to spend a lot more to get anything better, and then what i read between the lines is that there would be very little discernable improvement.

good luck

i just read your other question. i thought you had sound forge 5.0.. if you have the xp version then i am quite sure that this only records at l6 bits and my previous answer may then not be appropriate.

i suspect that sound blaster audigy platinum would be best, unless the mia or audiophile will do the same for you now, (how about it pro's?), and then later if you upgrade to sound forge 5.0 where you can record at higher rates then you'd already have the better card.

ok, one last time.

if it were me and i had the xp version, i personally would stick with the sound card that came with your computer. i checked and the xp version is 16 bit . so to me i see no reason to upgrade.
