vegas does not support importing realmedia because RealNetworks simply does not want it to be editable. Usually RealNetworks sues those companies that offer conversion tools. But there are still som tools like the Ripper from www.wisecroft.com which you can use to convert RealAudio to WAV (download it as long as it is still availbale). Or use a software like Total Recorder from www.highcriteria.com to record RealPlayers output (works like some kind of virtual audio driver).

These tools are for RealAudio, not Video!!!!

There is a way, but klutzy and time consuming. You need to first convert the RM format to AVI, then if sucessful you can do whatever you want with it in Vegas.

Once such converter is called TINRA which stands for This Is Not Real Anymore. The following site offers a basic GUI interface that makes working with DOS based converter simpler. You also need to have a copy of Real Player installed. Sucess is problematic. I was able to convert some RM files without any problems, others I couldn't or the result wasn't worth the effort. Anyhow if anyone wants to play around:

Oops...WARINING

The above is one of the sites that spawns others windows, including one that wants to have you switch your home page to their home page, so be careful what you answer yes or no to.
