Hello, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if this has been asked before. I just bought a Sony VAIO Fit 15 (which comes with Sound Forge 10), however I was previously using a purchased version of Sound Forge 9 (Which also came with CD architect and Izotopes mastering effects). The version of Sound Forge which came with my laptop does not come with these so I am thinking about installing Sound Forge 9 on the laptop. Would there be any issues with this? (Having both on the system or running Sound Forge 9 on Windows 8 in general) Is the version that comes with the laptop a dulled down version of Sound Forge or is it just missing the mastering effects? Would I be better off purchasing CD architect (Mainly used to track my mix CD's) and the Mastering effects? Thanks. Message last edited on11/13/2013 9:57:30 AM bydjborderline. |

I've seen that deal on the VAIO. What you got was Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, which is a lighter version of Sound Forge. It is missing a few features. You can try installing your copy of SF 9, although it doesn't officially support Windows 8. There should be no issue having the two versions of Sound Forge on your system. Typically you can have several different versions co-existing on a system. Rob. |

Thanks Rob, that's what I was worried about. I am assuming my Sound Forge version 9, will most likely be better than the "Audio Studio" version then... Hopefully I can get it to run through compatibility mode. (Has anyone here tried it?) If not maybe I can install it then upgrade to SF11 vs upgrading from SF Audio Studio (I believe the upgrade is A LOT more). Thanks. |

Sony Creative Software upgrades are performed ENTIRELY during the purchase process, and has nothing whatsoever to do with what you have installed or what order you've installed them. In fact, you don't have to have SoundForge Pro version installed at all to upgrade it. When you purchase the upgrade you supply the serial number from your previous version in order to get the discount. From that moment on the upgrade process is over and you are actually purchasing and installing a full and independent version. So, you can upgrade to SF11 without installing SF10. |

So just an update...just got home. Sound Forge 9 with Izotope mastering bundle, and CD architect have installed and worked perfect on the Sony Vaio Fit15 with Windows 8. If I come across any issues I will be sure to keep you posted. Thanks for your help. |
