Subject:ACID crashes after moving folder with media files

I've recently upgraded to XP and made some substantial changes to my hardware, including the addition of a new harddrive. The folder where I had all the media files is now on the drive e:\ under many subfolders. Originally it was on drive d:\ under a single folder. For example, it used to be like: d:\mymediafilesand now its: c:\somefolder\anotherfolder\mymediafiles Now, when I try to open a project, sometimes I get the "missing media file" dialog... but regardless of getting or not getting this dialog, when the open progress bar reaches 100% Acid crashes with this error: ------------------------------------------------------ Sonic Foundry ACID PRO 3.0 Version 3.0e (Build 329) Exception 0xC0000005 (access violation) READ:0x0 IP:0x50206D In Module 'acid.exe' at Address 0x400000 + 0x10206D Thread: GUI ID=0x638 Stack=0x12F000-0x130000 Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=001b EIP=0050206d EFLGS=00010246 EBX=ffffffff SS=0023 ESP=0012f8b8 EBP=0182f168 ECX=01c25aa0 DS=0023 ESI=01c25aa0 FS=003b EDX=0012f8c4 ES=0023 EDI=00000000 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 0050206D: 8B 08 FF 51 0C 85 C0 7C ...Q...| 00502075: 36 8B 54 24 14 8B 46 3C 6.T.F 0012F8FC: 00526C88 00400000 + 126C88 (acid.exe) 0012F900: 03D19FB8 03B70000 + 1A9FB8 0012F904: 00000000 0012F908: 00000000 0012F90C: 00000000 > 0012F940: 77D44112 77D40000 + 4112 (USER32.dll) > 0012F95C: 77D44018 77D40000 + 4018 (USER32.dll) > 0012F968: 77D44021 77D40000 + 4021 (USER32.dll) > 0012F980: 005277D0 00400000 + 1277D0 (acid.exe) > 0012F984: 77D7C076 77D40000 + 3C076 (USER32.dll) > 0012F988: 0052783F 00400000 + 12783F (acid.exe) 0012F98C: 03D19FB8 03B70000 + 1A9FB8 0012F990: 001E0564 00140000 + A0564 0012F994: 00000005 0012F998: 00000000 > 0012F9A0: 005277D0 00400000 + 1277D0 (acid.exe) > 0012F9A4: 77D43A5F 77D40000 + 3A5F (USER32.dll) 0012F9A8: 001E0564 00140000 + A0564 0012F9AC: 00000005 0012F9B0: 00000000 > 0012F9B8: 005277D0 00400000 + 1277D0 (acid.exe) - - - 0012FFF0: 00000000 0012FFF4: 00000000 0012FFF8: 0059A6F4 00400000 + 19A6F4 (acid.exe) 0012FFFC: 00000000 ------------------------------------------------------ Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Try what's suggested here. If the above doesn't work, try also uninstalling and reinstalling ACID and DirectX. HTH, Iacobus |

Thanks for replying but the only solution was to create a copy of the folder and place it in the same location it was before. Load the .acd files and save them as acd-zip (embedded media). From now on, I'm saving all my projects in this format. |

Just did a little hunting on this one. The problem is likely related to Track Properties, believe it or not. To open your project without the problem, try opening ACID from scratch, tabbing to the Track Properties page by the Explorer page, and clicking the X to get rid of it (or just use the pulldown menu's, choosing View/Track Properties to unselect it). Now open that project, and things should hopefully work better. FWIW, the problem arises when one goes to check track properties on a file that is offline. We're looking into a fix to tidy this up, to include with the next update. HTH, Joel |
