If I have a CD how do I create a region list that has the names of each track? Thanks |

Read the entire disc (rather than by track) and use the "create regions for each track" option. You'll have to label the region names themselves. |

Thanks, what a misery! Why doesn't Sound Forge label the region names automatically? Bad show, Sony. |

Most CDs don't contain name information. Only those with CD-TEXT included will, and i believe that's only SONY CDs. Not all playback equipment or software is equipped to retrieve the CD-TEXT information either. It's just not very widespread. CDs without CD-TEXT include no information except the start/end times of the tracks, so there isn't anything other information to extract from them. |

I can obtain the track information from Gracenote but how to then get that information into the regions list? |

Fingers to the keyboard, most likely. You might want to send a suggestion to Sony Creative Software and ask if they would consider adding this feature to a future version of Sound Forge. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/support/productsuggestion.asp |

Thanks, but I feel it is by design. The CD Info button is on the Extract Audio from CD dialogue - it creates tracks but not regions I find it hard to think this is an oversight. |

I'm happy to report I was mistaken! My apologies to Sony. Edit > Track List > Create regions from CD tracks is what I needed. It failed at first because I had an extra bad track. Once I deleted that I was able to rename the regions. |
