Subject:All audio files saving with .WDP extension

Sound Forge v10 build 506 started doing something really strange last week, when doing a Save-As, no matter what file type I choose, the file saves with the .WDP extension. The file itself contains the correct data, it just saves with the just the wrong extension. I can rename the resulting file to the correct extension and it works, but what a pain. I had not installed anything else recently but after the problem started, I uninstalled and reinstalled Sound Forge 10 and the problem persists. I have seen other posts on the Internet of both Vegas (with AVI files) and Sound Forge doing this. I'm assuming that this is a registry problem. Any ideas? |

We actually had a few people with a similar issue, early last year. http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=3&MessageID=756463 In all of the cases, the culprit was that they'd used some variety of "PC Mover" application that claimed it'd safely move your installed applications from one OS install to another. Have you used any applications of that sort? |

No, I haven't done anything like that. (Using a PC Mover app sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.) Other than a Chrome browser update or two and installing Vegas Pro 12, I've done nothing out of the ordinary. |

Hi, I have the same problem that John. I didn`t have used that kind of moving OS software you mentioned in here. I have tried lots of Registry cleaning apps, install and uninstall and could not fix that problem. The only program I have with that weird added .wdp extension is Sound Forge. I do not want to Re install my Windows 7/32bits again, I have lots of software installed. Any help? Thank you |

It's been months and I still haven't found a solution to this problem and it certainly hasn't been for lack of trying. Sound Forge is essentially useless on my laptop which is really inconvenient. |

According to my Google searches, the WDP extension is associated with Windows Media photo files. (Kind of odd, considering Sound Forge deals with audio and some video, not still images.) Also mentioned is that apps like Photoshop with an HD photo plug-in can open these files. Anything similar on your end that pertain to any of this? |

Can you rename the files to .wav or whatever after they're saved? |

Yes, the files are being saved in the correct format and can be renamed after the fact but it's an annoyance. |

I am having the same issue with Vegas Pro 10 rendering .wav files as .wdp. I have other audio/video software installed (including Sound Forge 9) and Vegas is the only one with this issue. Really frustrating. |
