Subject:Acid Pro 7--can't hear when recording

I use the mic-input on my laptops. And although in the past, in both Music Studio and Acid Pro, I had to crank the master and lower the other tracks to hear the track I was recording, in my new Acer laptop I can't hear it at all. HELP.

EDIT: Fixed, I just clicked the speaker icon on my laptop and messed with the recording properties until I found "listen?" and it works fine.

Are you using an ASIO driver? I believe you need to be using the ASIO driver that came with your audio device in order to monitor while recording. If your audio device didn't come with an ASIO driver (or you are using the cheap built-in sound chip on your motherboard) you can try using ASIO4ALL but personally, I'd buy a professional audio device with ASIO drivers if you are serious about recording.

I can't afford a usb interface right now--I could hear just using my soundcard on my IBM Thinkpad.
