Subject:SF 10 Pro headphone audio lag in Windows 8

Am using a brand new computer which comes with Windows 8 by default (my preference that reliable dinosaur XP). In setting up for recording spoken word audio there is a slight delay in the headphones lagging behind the voice by perhaps a half second. I have tried as many settings both in SF and in Win 8 as possible and have managed to get the lag reduced from about 2 seconds to .5 sec. Anyone know how to sync things so that audio in the headset is real time?

Are you using ASIO drivers? These drivers should allow you to get the lag down into the millisecond range. The standard Windows drivers aren't that fast.

Thanks. Probably not as I am simply going with what came on the machine. How do I get ASIO drivers?
