Subject:SF vs Vegas for realtime post workflow

Hoping someone can chime in here and lend some insight. In addition to being a fantastic NLE, Vegas gives us the ability to apply a post production workflow in real time for live broadcast purposes. It's pretty easy to connect any average two channel USB interface to a laptop to pipe audio into Vegas, insert a stereo input aux bus across your stereo track, bring up Ozone, set your vol maximizer, 'verb, stereo spread, harmonic exciter, etc., blend to taste, and route that finalized audio back out of your stereo usb interface and combine with a video M/E unit like the BMD ATEM and stream everything out in realtime.

Can Sound Forge accomplish the same (while simultaneously tracking the audio for podcasting purposes)?

I don't think so. You need multiple tracks and busses to accomplish this and SF is just a multi-channel editor.

thanks - in Vegas, it takes one stereo track and one stereo input bus - i thought SF was capable of doing this.

I misspoke slightly. You need at least two tracks to pull this off, and SF only does one track at a time (mind you it will do multiple channels, but only one track).
