The software is not working PLEASE HELP ME!!

David israel wrote on 8/21/2013, 2:32 AM

I bought Sony Vegas a month ago and everything worked properly and there were no problems. But yesterday something very strange that I really can not explain, the problem: Every time I try to open the software the charging indicator gets stuck at the same point, the point is: initializing GPU-accelerated video processing...
And the weird thing is that it never happened to me before so I deleted the program and installed it again,
And the problem is still not resolved and I can not run the software so I really do not know what to do so I would love to get help
Thanks in advance David

Do you have any automatic updating turned on? Or, just having Video card driver updated?
For easy, try do system restore to the point Sony Vegas run properly.

First of all thank you very much for the reply I really appreciate it, and I tried but it reaches the same result, you know the more reason that can cause this?

Thanks in advance David

Hello:

Can you populate your system specifications here: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowProfile.asp?UserID=65466&MessageID=867816

That will help other users understand a little more about your system and this may help diagnose your problem.

Here is an idea.

Do you have Options/Preferences/General/Automatically open last project on startup enabled? If yes, did you create a project using GPU enabled plug-ins such as those from Sony or NewBlue? Maybe Vegas is getting stuck trying to load a GPU intensive project.

If that sounds familiar, you can open your Nvidia Control Panel (if you have Nvidia) and set the global settings to use the High Performance Nvidia Processor. Then make sure Vegas Pro 12 is added to the list of programs recognized by the Control Panel.

For my GPU enabled NewBlue plugins, I find unchecking the GPU option on the plugin eliminates hangs and jitters. GPU and Vegas sometimes do not play nicely with one another.

Anyway, if Vegas launches for you, uncheck that "Automatically open last project" box tout de suite!

Just grasping at straws with this idea. Hope it helps : )

Try holding down the CTRL and SHIFT keys when you launch Vegas.
David israel wrote on 8/21/2013, 9:31 AM
I'm just glad that people send me answers but unfortunately your answer did not help. Because I never had plug-ins in the past
So unfortunately it also rejects this answer, and by the way Do you think that if I will remove the software and I will install it again it will change anything
Thanks in advance David

Now yes, but unfortunately it did not work,
But, thanks anyway

Try this:
Boot in Safe Mode, remove all video drivers in Device Manager, Reboot.
The driver will reload, then start Vegas.

I do not quite understand how to do itso I'd be happy if you could explain it to me step by step if you have time
Thanks in advance David

You could try a Windows system restore to a point before the start of your problems. That will take care of any driver issues or bad registry settings.

I tried but the computer did not find any other version

You'll have to learn about safe mode and device manager on the internet. I don't have your version of Windows.

Regarding the System Restore suggestion, when you launch System Restore you should first see something like this:

If you select Choose a different Restore Point and select Next, you will get a screen similar to the following (note these are MY restore points and yours will not be the same):

From here you can choose a Restore Point with a date that is consistent to a time when Vegas was working fine. You can also Show more Restore Points if the defaults shown are not earlier than your current Vegas woes.

You can also choose Scan for affected Programs. This may help you figure out how Vegas or your drivers were affected by an update (or whatever) and may help you avoid this problem in the future.

Regards,

Kimberly

I did what you said but there was no a restore point far enough, so I did restore to the last point, I reinstalled the software but it reaches the same result I really do not know what to do, you have another solution for me?
Thanks in advance David

Something like that happened to me a few years back. Have you added any new video software or codecs of late? If so , go back and uninstall them, that's what cleared up my problem. It was caused when some sort of conflict with in 2 programs that were trying to share some part of a file. Hope it helps and good luck.

After going back to a restore point you can download & run the FREE CCleaner program. Click on "Registry", "Scan for Issues", and let it do its thing. You can also use CCleaner to remove installed programs that do not provide an easy way for you to uninstall them.

ALWAYS avoid codec pacs, etc. with Vegas as they can be almost impossible to completely remove...

In the future, before installing new software, make a backup of your boot/program drive using "Paragon Backup & Recovery" or other drive image program. This works best if you keep your work files on another hard drive and use another computer altogether for emails, online accounts, etc...

I see you have an Nvidia card. Can you post a screenshot of your Nvidia Control Panel.

For example, your first screen should look something like this:

Your second screen should look something like this:

I use the Windows Snipping Tool to take screenshots. If you need to know how to post screenshots, there is an instructions link at the top of the Forum page.

Thank you for all the help

Back up everything you need on an external drive.

Reformat your hard drive, make sure it wipes everything, then install windows again.
( make sure you have all of the drivers on a usb drive or somewhere and you know how to do a real format which wipes out everything ).

Disable all automatic updates.

After that install Vegas and you other programs making sure you don't install anything you don't need.

May seem drastic, but you'll probably waste far more time trying to find what the problem is. In fact you could have already been running a clean version of Windows for 1/2 a day.
David israel wrote on 8/22/2013, 3:32 AM
The truth is I have already thought about this possibility, but I will use it only if nothing will work
Thanks for the help

And after you finish whole installations, try working with it, and you are sure the whole system has run smoothly without any issues, then make backup of the system image to DVD or other external drive.

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/back-up-your-programs-system-settings-and-files

If you encounter error, you can easily restore image back to 'First Default Installations' (instead of word 'Factory Default' :) )
