...but can't find reference to it in Help abd mind is blank.

How do you tell Beatmapper when something isn't 4/4 ?!!! It doesn't seem to pick it up from project tempo/sig ...

No; right above that should be the "initial time signature" option.

Also, if you're looking to change the time signature anywhere along this file, in the very same window double-click anywhere above the waveform to insert a beatmap marker. Right-click it to change root note and/or time signature.

(If you don't see the option to change time signature, you're just coming across the idea behind basic music theory...though, to be honest, it would be great if we could odd meter too.)
