Just downloaded the demo version of Sound Forge Pro 11, but cannot use it, as it requires a Serial Number - there is no option for "Demo". Message last edited on7/22/2013 2:37:09 AM bycolinu. |

We've seen this (rarely) happen in-house. It's a result of Windows (generally Windows 8, but it can happen on other versions) forcing a reboot during the install process, after the installation of .Net. The reboot disrupts the install process and blocks trial registration. Uninstalling and re-installing Forge should resolve the issue, as the second install will already have all of its pre-requisite dependencies in-place. If this isn't the case, please open an issue with our tech support department. I'd like to see all of the details of your system as well as the install logs to try and get an understanding of what's happening on your machines. I have SoundForge 10.0 installed on a Windows 7 prior to the SF 11.0 installation. No reboot occurred when I installed 11. So, now uninstalling 11 ... The uninstall is now popping up a window : "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Message last edited on7/22/2013 10:47:05 AM bydustinnulf. |

Ha... When "Asking a Question" in Tech Support, there is no Product support option for SF 11.0. |

Same here requires serial - then when you try to uninstall get "there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor." Obviously a portent of what is to come and the software is still x86 - wake up SCS and make it x64 so plugins and previews have access to more memory. There is no way I am upgrading while it remains a 32bit x86 program. |

For those trying to uninstall the botched install of Sound Forge Pro 11 - I used Revo Uninstaller, and was able to remove it from my system. I was able to get the demo running on another system. |

My environment is Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. I have read several good reviews about the Revo Uninstaller on this forum and another one. I previously installed a "Creative Labs SB Audigy 2 Value" (16-bit or 32-bit card) sound card. I did install the 64-bit driver. I have since removed it. I also removed the driver using Device Manager. Unfortunately it left many entries in the Registry for Creative. Sound Forge Pro 10 gives me an error when it starts. Fortunately, it allows me to continue without any errors. I have no other Creative products (hardware or software) and would like to remove all entries for this card/driver. Does anyone know if it will SAFELY remove these entries? Can I use the free version or should I try the Professional version? Should I manually backup the Registry or does this program do it? I want to be able to restore the Registry if there are problems. The Free version does not list 64-bit OS. BTW, the Creative company said to reinstall the drive and uninstall it again. I have not done that and don't know what it would accomplish. Message last edited on7/24/2013 12:04:08 PM byLarry Clifford. |

I am experiencing the same problem with Sound Forge Pro 11. I just wanted to load the trial to see I wanted to upgrade from Pro 10. I found out also that the trial requires a serial number and the same DLL requirement for uninstalling the program. I now have a program that I can't use and can't uninstall. I did open a support request about the incident but so far have only gotten a response to check the help files. Don't know how I can do this without having a serial number. I'll keep you all informed on the fix if I get one. |

The link you have listed is correct. https://www.custcenter.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5148 1. Download the attached .zip file and extract the folder within to the Desktop. 2. Right-click the following file within the folder: 'run_as_admin.bat' 3. Choose Run as administrator. 4. Click Yes. 5. Uninstall Sound Forge Pro 11. 6. Re-install Sound Forge Pro 11. - Once the reinstallation is complete, you should now be able to successfully operate the Trial version of your software without entering a serial number. If you continue to encounter issues, please submit a question using the form on the following page: https://www.custcenter.com/app/ask Thank you, Bradley |

Hi Richard, So far our tests have not seen what you are reporting. We are hammering on this today to see if we can cause the same scenario. I'd be interested to hear from others who ran into the initial no trial bug if the .bat file fix worked for you or are you unable to run multiple times after a reinstall of SF11. I'm sorry for the problems some of you have seen, this is a particularly tricky bug that only a small group of folks have run into thus far. Thanks, Dave |
