Hi:

What are the major differences between Sound Forge versions 4.0 and 5.0? Do you notice any problems with 5.0 that you didn't experience with 4.0? And finally, do you recommend the upgrade to 5.0?

Thanks.

Jim

Well, Jim.
Here's how I see it.
I never used CD Architect, but a lot of folks do. And they have not been at all pleased with the fact that 5.0 no longer supports CD Architect.

A major advantage that I see with 5.0 is being able to hear effects processing in real time. That makes a major difference to me. 5.0 has it but 4.0 does not.

Finally, the ability to use 24 bit processing vs. 16 bit has to be considered a plus as well for 5.0.

However, if you do a search of this forum you'll find folks who were hardly impressed with 5.0 after having used prior versions.

Ultimately, it's a personal choice.

Some minor stuff too: Batch converter can no longe be accessed from within Sound Forge; it's a totally stand alone program now. No real big deal; but it was more convenient before, IMHO.

You would definitely want to make the change from 4.0 to at least 4.5. Now 4.5 to 5.0 now that's where the debate begins. If you're at 4.0 I would recommend you upgrade to 5.0.
