Subject:My events move when I split or paste over them

Acid Pro 7 Win 7 Ultimate 64bit Pretty much what the title says. If I click on an event and hit "s", the event splits at the cursor and the event to the right loses a 16th beat and shifts left. If I copy a any amount of event and paste it over on another location, again the event after the paste moves a little but this time it ADs time. And something that may be related, at the same session this crap started my Bamboo Connect pen, when using the multi-select tool, no loonger locates the cursor to where I click. It does all the other left-click functions except this... but my mouse does. Both of these problems have started in the same evening. Message last edited on5/26/2013 8:15:10 PM bydeadbandman. |

I just tried editing the same project in another computer and the same results. This computer doesn't have my Bamboo Connect so I know it's not that and it was originally recorded with this computer. I suspect it's because I have tempo changes but I'm not pasting anything across the changes or from one tempo to another. The only solution I can see (This is a drum recording) is to duplicate the overhead track and after I have edited the rest, use it as a control and line everythign back up with it. This sucks as I have done this many many times before and never has it done this to me. |

I have just discovered that all my tracks have a tempo split point right at the beginning. This makes no sense as there is and never was a tempo change until the last third of the project. But after cutting off the beginning just after the tempo change(Lucky for me I always give a long beginning before I have the artist start playing so it was only silence) and re-aligning the tracks to teh tempo markers, everything I cut+Split affter that seems to be fine. Keep your fingers crossed for me. But I still am wondering why my tracks recorded with a tempo change where there was none. |

It sounds like ripple edits are on (Ctrl + L toggles it or Options > Ripple Edits on the menu bar) but ripple edits fill (or subtract) the exact amount of space the event/clip occupied. Simply splitting a clip should not even cause a clip to shift. All that should happen is that the clip gets split right where the cursor is and apply fades on both sides of the cursor. What type of clip is this happening on? (Loop, One-shot or Beatmapped for digital audio and, of course, MIDI.) Maybe it's a video driver issue? |

you may have this sorted, but something to check might be if snap-to-grid might causing it? |

sounds a lot like the issue that haunts some of my acid projects!! see this old post from 2010 : http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?Forum=1&MessageID=734895 the only way I found to make sure it didn't bite me again and again was to be super diligent about trimming dead space at the beginning of every audio file I recorded as I recorded them... If I didn't trim the beginnings, a lot of my projects were re-opening up all out of whack... I think it has something to do with the timestretching algos. Issue was never actually resolved... perhaps in acid pro 8 SOMEDAY! (actually the only reason I am back to the forums here was to check if anything has changed in the last few months with the ap8 pipeline... of course, no progress) |
