Subject:Help! Underdog Help! Acid 3.0 and Sound Forge Not Starting. Claims Missing Start-up Link

Both my Acid 3.0 and Sound Forge are displaying an error message at start-up after months of using them with no problem. This is what they say:

1.
C:\Programs Files\Sonic Foundry\ACID 3.0\ACID.EXE
A device attached to the system is not functioning.

2.
The ACIS.EXE file is
linked to missing export SFCDI.DLL:?SfDdi_Initialiize@@YGJPAUHINSTANCE_@@KPADK@Z.

Can anyone help me with this problem? I've emailed Sonic Foundry and wouldn't you know, they're closed on the weekends. I and my clients are not happy.

Did you try uninstalling and reinstalling both ACID and Sound Forge? Sounds like something got corrupt. (Maybe that DLL? I'm not exactly techie on issues like this, but I've seen enough to suggest it.)

Thanks. Yes I did uninstalled Sound Forge but not Acid, I don't want to lose a major project I'm working on, and not only did it not work but it has become more difficult to access.

Any other suggestion? I've must finish this project ASAP. The deadline has come and gone.

I would guess that you have a corrupt or invalid version of that .dll corresponding to the version of the programs you are running. That "linked to missing export" usually means that the dll file mentioned is being called but doesn't match the version expected or cannot carry out the function (that message shows up for just about any windows application). Since the file starts with the letters "sf", I would gather it's installed by one or more of the Sonic Foundry products, so try renaming it to sfcdi.old, and uninstalling/reinstalling (make sure your important files are backed up if they are stored in the main directory for the program). I'd really like to hear the solution to this one...so please post it if you have a chance.
Thanks,

Hmmm...upon closer inspection, I don't have that "ACIS.EXE" file that you spoke of in your first post, nor could I find anything on the Internet dealing with such a file. Do you have any idea what "ACIS.EXE" is? In Win 9x, you can easily find out where this file resides by going to "Start>Find>Files or Folders" and entering the file name in the "Named" field. Click "Find Now".

I found two instances of SFCDI.DLL in both my ACID folder and Sound Forge folder. The description of the DLL is "Sonic Foundry CD/CDR Interface Library".

Indeed the file sfcdi.dll is for the CD interface...

Just a couple quick ideas:

1. What OS are you using?
2. Has anything changed with respect to your CDR or CD-ROM drives recently? Perhaps moving them around or adding a new one has caused an issue.
3. What CD drives do you have in your system?
4. Have you installed any other software (from SF, or otherwise) recently?
