Subject:Building A Loop Track

So, I have created a loop region of an instrument and I would like to render the region as a new loop track so I can adjust the number of loops it plays, and lay down new tracks on top of it. The problem is that when I render the loop region, it comes out as a one off, and when I try to change the properties of the track so it will loop, it screws with the tempo or pitch of the track. There must be an easier way to build a loop out of an arbitrary section of music, right? |

By default, anything between half a second to 30 seconds becomes a Loop when bounced; anything shorter than half a second becomes a One-shot; anything longer than 30 seconds becomes a Beatmapped track. You can change this behavior by clicking Options > Preferences > Audio, first option. By setting the leftmost option to zero, any bounce will become a Loop no matter how short. Adding to this, ACID will take into account the overall project key and tempo of your project when bouncing. e.g., If you want to preserve the sound of a percussion track when bouncing as a Loop, be sure to set the overall key to, "None," before bouncing. |

Thanks for the reply, what does the term "bounced" refer to? |

Bounced = rendered to a new track. :) |

I am still not able to get this to work properly. I create a loop and then render it to a new track. The loop is about 17 seconds long, but just in case I bumped out and down the loop properties as you said, but the track is still being rendered and opened as a beatmap. When I try switching it to be loop, it changes the length of the track adding distortions and what not. Any ideas or help would be greatly appricated. You can download the project at http://firfer.com/BounceTest.zip As a side note, for some reason its complaining about a track I deleted even though it doesn't appear to be referenced in the project at all. Rather annoying. Message last edited on6/27/2013 2:29:40 AM byeD_Nort. |

I don't know what happened but something made your project go kablooey. I tried bouncing down the recorded track myself. No matter what length I set the loop region at, it would still render as a Beatmapped track. So I started a new project, inserted your recorded track into it (as a track) and then tried bouncing; worked like it should have with it bouncing down into a Loop. Try that. As far as ACID complaining about the track you deleted, just tell it to ignore it and leave it offline. When you save, ACID shouldn't bother you about it anymore. |

All I did was open a new project and hit the record button and then enable a loop on it. Perhaps there is a setting somewhere for my mic or recording thats causing the track to be built strangely? I tried following the steps you listed, created a new project, went to the explorer and dragged the original track in, setup a loop region, then rendered it to a new track, but it still saved it as a beatmap. Honestly, if there isn't a way to fix this, the product seems pretty useless. Perhaps its a bug with my build? 7.0a (Build 157) |

You should definitely update to 7.0e. I can remember if your issue was a problem in earlier builds, but having the latest will eliminate that as a cause. Peter |
