Wave form display drawing lags

I have a brand new Lenovo computer running Windows 8 When I record audio the waveform display lags behind the cursor. It makes it hard to see if the program is really recording. This doesn't happen all the time. It seems that the first couple of times I hit 'record' the display keeps up with the cursor. After a while it starts lagging. This happened on my old computer and is one of the reasons I bought a new computer. I'm still having this problem on the new computer. What causes this and what can I do to fix it?

I had this happen in Vegas 10 when I was doing a live 8 track recording with my laptop (ADK laptop with Presonus FireStudio). It is disconcerting to watch it during the performance but everything recorded. Could it be a RAM or processor issue - not sure? Sneddy

In the time since I posted I went through 2 Lenovo computers (2 motherboards fried)and now am trying to get a Dell to work correctly w Sony Vegas 12 (yes, I bit the bullet and wasted $189 on an upgrade that didn't solve the problem). My interface is a MOTU 24I/O w a $300 PCIe card upgrade. The Dell is a 3.00Ghz running Windows 8 w 8 gigs or RAM. Now, in addition to the latency in drawing waveforms, I get static when scrolling in & out w the mouse and moving the mouse. I can't over-emphasize my frustration.......

This was an issue for several versions, went away, and now seems solidly back again. Blank line for maybe 10 seconds, then updates, then blank again for another 10, etc.

It's a pain - wish it could be fixed. Happens for me in W7(64).
