I had not recorded in a while (mostly post production, etc...) - so imagine my surprise when I fired up SF10 to record an audition and I hear a terrible crackle (sometimes it is a level maxing electrical buzz) whenever I speak. Thinking my cable, mic or even audio interface had gone bad I checked them all and lo and behold, it only happens when I record in SF - audacity or anything else, sounds fine. I did not change any settings in SF from my last recording a few months ago, though I believe I might have updated to build 245 you can hear it here - https://soundcloud.com/darin-wolfe/audacity-test-6-19-13 note the first part was recorded in audacity, the 2nd - without touching any hardware, in SF. Using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, AKG Perception 220, Win7 PC Any ideas, suggestions? |

This may seem silly, but you checked to make sure you have the correct source selected in SF, correct? Rob. |

That sound example sounds similar to a samplerate mis-match between hardware and software - check samplerate is the same throughout. Is SF set to use Focusrite ASIO drivers? Message last edited on6/19/2013 5:56:58 PM byChristoC. |

thanks for the reply - 1) did check sample rates and they matched. 2) SF was set to the focusrite drivers - now, that being said, I think that was the problem. I went back and put the focusrite as the default in windows Sound Devices and then chose Microsoft Mapper in SF - now, I don't get the crackle anymore.....weird...I am pretty sure I had the Focusrite drivers direct before, but it is working now (after 2 days of playing with it, that is the one config I never went to).....Thanks for letting me vent :) |

That is just plain weird.... ASIO drivers 'should' give you the best results. BTW you said " I did not change any settings in SF from my last recording a few months ago, though I believe I might have updated to build 245" - actually that update may have reset some settings - have you tried, for example, other ASIO Buffer settings in SF (in 'Advanced' Tab)? |
