Subject:Acid PRO 3.0 and Win XP ?! Posted by: damadprofessor Date:12/26/2001 9:21:43 PM Anyone notice or know of any problems running Acid PRO 3.0 under Windows XP? I've just done a clean install of XP and installed Acid and all of the updates. I can't seem to open any of my old files, nor any i have downloaded from acidplanet. i have noticed that the product specs only mention up to windows 2000. any hopes of a patch?! thank in advance.

What specific problems are you having when you attempt to load an older version ACID file? When you upgraded to XP, did you upgrade from a previous OS, or did you do the recommended clean install. During this process, did you keep all of your relevant ACID files together, intact and apart from the OS install? Billy Buck

I get media association errors when i try to open wav's and mp3's, so i can't create a new file. My old files give errors finding media files and once i reassociate those, i get an error on the acid file itself. All of my data was backed up on seperate drives and cd's, since i did a full wipe of Win98 and installed XP Pro. I'm in the middle of reinstalling Acid, once more..to rule that out completely. i'll post my result in a bit. thanks 8? )=)

I still have problems, even with the base version. Once 3.0 is installed, it plays the demo track fine, but all other attempts to access any media give errors. Installing 3.0b and 3.0e, i get a lock near the end of the install. Since it locks during removal of setup files, i tried running the app anyway after a reboot. Still no media file recognition and not even the demo track is readable anymore. Should I assume that my 3.0 install file [i bought the downloadable version] and 3.0b update file, will not install 100% correctly if it is backed up on a fat32 drive?! Hence it locks near the end while removing setup files. Thanks much for shedding some light on my possible problem! I'm about to re-download the original installer again and test that. I'll post results.

Ok, so after uninstalling and rebooting, I went to download the original installer and realized it's replaced by the 3.0e update file i have. So i just ran that again and POW! everything is fine again. i can read all my files new and old - fat32 and NTFS, no errors at all. That was all so very weird still so many thanks billbk and Rockitglider for your help and suggestions again, hopefully someone else will avoid countless hours of anguish from this 8? )=) Keep those bits banging! - damadprofessor @ acidplanet
