Vegas and Delta issues

Pops and clicks during playback... with only 15 tracks and 6 DX plug-ins... some pops and clicks show up on recorded tracks too.

Here's my system:

Gigabyte GA60X mobo
P3 866 MHz
512 MB RAM
Delta 1010 w/ latest drivers
Windows 2000
Matrox G450 video card
Maxtor and Western Digital drives (7200 RPM)

I've tried many things... DMA enabled, messed with graphics acceleration, tweaked OS according to guidelines at Prorec.com, disabled ACPI, defragged, and adjusted DMA buffer in Delta control panel.

My copy of Vegas (which came bundled with the 1010) has been upgraded to 2.0h.

Any thoughts?

Pops and clicks are usually due to sampling rates differing in some way. Look in the preferences under audio to make sure that the Delta 1010 is the timing/recording master. Also, if you have another soundcard running simulatneously, you could try to disable it. Additionally, make sure that your busses, combination of all of your signals, are not clipping by bringing down individual levels. Clipping in the digital domain is a NO NO. Let us know what comes of it all.

try uninstalling your drivers completey (there's a utility on the M-audio website), and go to the M-Audio website, download and install the .27 drivers.. these are early drivers, but work better in Vegas than the rest of them at the moment.

This is if you're using Win9x..

Yeah, everything you suggest is in effect. My levels are always under control, and Delta/Vegas are set up properly.

I'm beginning to think it's the motherboard.

As of last night I'm running Windows 98SE with the .27 drivers. Same problem, just not as bad.

JoeD and his frustration with M-Audio is well known to me! He and I were getting into it over at the prorec.com forum. Granted, I'm doing better in Win98SE with the .27 drivers, but not good enough.

I'll keep you guys posted.
